Portekiz PSC müfettişlerinin Türk bayraklı ASLI ELİF isimli kuruyük gemisinin tutulması gerekçe olarak gemi 2. kaptanın ingilizcesinin yetersiz olduğu ifade edildi.
Şirket yetkilileri, Başbakanlık Denizcilik Müsteşarlığı kanalıyla Paris Memorandumu'na itirazda bulunduğu öğrenildi. Şirket yönetici Arif Uzuner Denizhaber Ajansı'na yaptığı özel açıklamada tutulmanın olmadığı, geminin aynı gün limanda kalktığını belirterek, kayıtlara geçen iki gün tutulma yazısının kaldırılması için Müsteşarlık kanalıyla itirazda bulunduklarını açıkladı.
ASLI ELİF'in tutulması ile birlikte, 2007 yılında Avrupa limanlarında tutulan Türk bayraklı gemi sayısı 12 oldu.
